All blem balls technically have some type of blemish, and the degree of the blemishes can vary by brand. At Blemballs, we have inspected and evaluated thousands of balls, and we have established a rating scale classifying blemishes as Grade A, B, or C. Note that a standard 1-dozen box of blem balls may contain all of these grades regardless of brand.

Blem ball pricing generally reflects the quality of the ball's interior (core, windings, etc.), quality of its leather, and the degree of its exterior blemishes. We offer blem balls in a range of brands and prices so that you can find exactly what you need!

Grade A Balls (42% of all balls)

• These balls are virtually indistinguishable from their non-blem counterparts.  Many customers can't even identify a blemish. The most common blemishes are an off-centered stamping (ink), a discoloration, or an imperfect stitch. These balls are often BETTER baseballs than some higher-priced models from the same manufacturer.  Grade A balls are excellent practice balls, and our customers regularly use them for scrimmages or youth games.

Grade B Balls (55% of all balls)

• These are typical blem balls with slightly more noticeable blemishes than Grade A balls.  Blemishes could include a subtle wrinkle in the cover, a slight irregularity in the stitching, or a small scuff in the leather. Balls in this category still perform normally and are great for practice, BP, or scrimmages.
  

Grade C Balls (3% of all balls)

• Grade C balls are the true misfits of the blem ball world. Fortunately, only a small percentage of balls have these more obvious defects. Grade C balls are rare, occurring in only 1 of every 2-3 boxes of blem balls. Blemishes may include irregular stitching, possible slight misshaping, or wrinkles in the cover. While not recommended for more advanced drills or competition, these balls remain suitable for tee drills, cage work, etc.
